Frontify’s DAM system became a key part of what Totem offers. The team created inspiration galleries and asset libraries for clients to use. With Frontify’s open-source tools, Totem could customize each portal to fit every client’s brand.
Templates added another dimension: By building out Frontify instances with a brand’s full visual IP, Totem discovered it was effectively creating a content engine. One where existing brand assets could be activated to generate new material consistently and at scale.
Meanwhile, a shift was emerging in how brand guidelines themselves were being conceived. With attention spans shorter than ever, Totem began rethinking the format entirely.

What’s next
Totem began with a single client brief in 2021. Since then, the team has shaped a brand strategy framework that adapts as the brand grows.
Now, Totem has built Librainian. It’s a metadata tool that uses AI to tag assets with context-aware details. Librainian connects with Frontify and lets brands set up custom metadata rules, making it easier to find and organize assets as they grow.
